Wooden Carvings in Stover Country Park, Newton Abbot, Devon.

These delightful wood carvings are on the railings of a  wheelchair accessible ramp.

There are several ramps in the park but this one goes over and around a swampy area where myriads of animals from dragonflies and birds to newts and spiders can be found.

These creatures live (or migrate) here and depending on the season can be seen from the walkways.

Many of the carvings are by children and they are delightful.

Also on the bridge are learning puzzles where you can trace your finger along a storyline.

One is about different beaks and bills and food preferences for that bird.

Another is called the survival game.  It brings home how precarious life can be for these animals.

And another one is the acorn survival game.  Ending with a lucky acorn becoming a tree.

There are a couple of stencil-type carvings.  One very cleverly making use of a knot in the wood.

And then on the entrance and exit are some beautifully ornate and intricate carvings which are great fun to study. Look for the animals hidden in the wood as they undoubtedly are in the park.

DOG POOP SIGNS

It amazes me how many pleas there are, all over the world, for humans to pick up the waste left by their dogs.

Some of them are quite creative.
I especially like the line under the header reminding us that "Not everyone loves Max".

Some are serious
